STUDENT LEADER OF THE MONTH

Elisabeth Poorman
School of Medicine
Elissa is a second year medical student and serves as treasurer of the Emory chapter of American Medical Students Association. She is also one of the Coordinators for one of the student run free clinics, Open Door. In that position she spends every Wednesday evening working with patients & advocating on their behalf far beyond the time she spends at the clinic. As AMSA treasurer, she has been absolutely indispensable and instrumental in making the recent AMSA Regional Conference occur.
Elissa is wholly committed to issues of social justice and access to care, and puts her ideals into practice daily. Her ability to juggle all her commitments, remain fair & unbiased in her dealings, and still be actively engaged in the considerable academic load we face as medical students makes her the November Student Leader of the Month. Congraulations, Elissa!
